Employees are covered by the MSRS Unclassified Retirement Plan per statute.
 

Gillette Hospital
Effective January 1, 1989, Gillette Hospital became a private, non-profit and is no longer affiliated with the State of Minnesota; therefore, employees hired prior to January 1, 1989 are covered by the MSRS General Plan. Any one hired on or after that date is not eligible to participate in the MSRS retirement system.
 

MAPE
Effective July 1, 2013, employees are covered under MSRS' General Employees Retirement Plan. The membership inclusion as noted in Minnesota Statute 352.01, Subd. 2a does not apply to a person receiving an age and service annuity from the General Employees Retirement Plan on June 30, 2013.
 

Metropolitan Council
Permanent employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan, except for the 27 appointments plus the chair that are eligible for the Unclassified Plan.
 

Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority
The Executive Director participates in the Unclassified Plan. Permanent employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan. Temporary employees hired for a period more than six months and part time employees hired to work more than thirty hours a week are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
 

Middle Management Association (MMA)
Employees are eligible for the MSRS General Plan if employment began after July 1, 2007.
 

Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE)
Employees on leave of absence from their state positions are eligible to the plan of their permanent appointment.
 

Minnesota Crop Improvement Association
Employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
 

Minnesota Government Engineers Association (MGEC)
Employees are eligible to the General Plan.
 

Minnesota Historical Society
Employees may elect coverage by MSRS General Plan or TIAA-CREF. Only permanent employees and employees who are full-time students working intermittently and then full-time in the summer are covered.
 

Minnesota Horticultural Society
Employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
 

Minnesota House of Representatives
Permanent employees are covered by the MSRS Unclassified Retirement Plan. Temporary employees who have shares in the Unclassified Plan from previous employment are also covered in the Unclassified Plan.
  

Minnesota Safety Council
Employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
 

Minnesota Senate - Members
Members are covered by the MSRS Unclassified Retirement Plan. 
  

Minnesota State Fair
Employees are covered by the MSRS General Plan, except for temporary employee employed on or after July 1, for a period not to extend for a period beyond October 15, or persons employed for special events.

 

University Of Minnesota
Permanent employees in classified positions (civil service) are covered in the MSRS General Plan, if so designated by the Board of Regents. 
 

Veolia-North America
Employees who were employed on June 30, 1992, are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
 

Washington County
Employees with MSRS coverage who go on leave of absence from the state and are hired as county engineers are covered by the MSRS General Plan.
